With mobile apps becoming popular, mobile in-app ads are causing rage.
Mobile marketers are turning more attention toward in-app advertising. As of now, in-app ads account for around 5% of mobile ad spending, and that number is only expected to rise in coming years.
Lots of the free applications on app stores get sponsored by advertising that gets displayed when the user is in the application itself, either as a banner or in between.
The major reasons in-app ads are making waves is their effectiveness. Though majority of 18-34-year-olds actively dislike mobile in-app ads ( I am sure you also must not be linking them), but it is believed that the many will also be able to recall those ads at a higher rate than the ads they see while browsing the mobile web.
A recent report by Appssavvy, found that in-app ads perform 11.4 times better than standard banner ads, which means they are almost as effective as search.
For all app developers, these ads are a good money too. According to Angry Birds publisher Rovio, by the end of 2011, it’ll be making $1 million each month from in-app ads on the Android platform alone.
